Henderson Tourist Commission Announces 2024-25 Grant Recipients

Henderson, Ky. (July 2, 2024) – The Henderson Tourist Commission is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2024-25 grant program, providing $20,000 in funding aimed at supporting special events and projects in Henderson County that bolster tourism and enhance visitor experiences.

Each year, the Henderson Tourist Commission allocates a portion of its budget to this grant initiative, which plays a crucial role in fostering community engagement and attracting overnight visitors to the area. By carefully reviewing applications, the Commission ensures that funded events align with its mission to showcase Henderson County as a vibrant destination.

“We are thrilled to support these outstanding initiatives that not only promote tourism but also enrich our quality of life as locals,” said Abby Dixon, executive director of the Henderson Tourist Commission. “Through our grant program, we are able to contribute to events that showcase the cultural richness and hospitality of Henderson County.”

The 2024-25 grant recipients include:

  • W.C. Handy Blues and BBQ Festival
  • Henderson Area Arts Alliance
  • Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival
  • Henderson Chamber of Commerce – Porchfest and Independence Day Celebration
  • Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival
  • Henderson Flash
  • Summerfest
  • Lions Club Arts & Crafts Festival

Funding for the grant program is generated in part through the Henderson Tourist Commission’s gift shop at The Depot Welcome Center, which offers a variety of Henderson-themed souvenirs and locally made products. Purchases made at the gift shop directly contribute to supporting future grants and ensuring the success of local tourism initiatives.
