Don’t miss the annual Ohio Valley Birding Festival! Whether you’re a novice at bird identification, an avid birder with years of experience, or just want to know more about our feathered friends, you’ll find something of interest during this weekend Festival. Hosted by John James Audubon State Park (known for being a birding hotspot) and organized in collaboration with the Evansville Audubon Society, this event brings the importance and fascination of birdwatching to the forefront. Check out these activities at Audubon Park: 10:30 A.M. -1 P.M.–Family Birding Fun with “Make-n-Take Hummingbird Spinners,” “Bird Olympics,” also “Upcycled Bird Feeders” from 11 A.M.-1 P.M. from the experts at Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Store (Bring your own soda bottle!); 10:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.–Hands-on Bird Banding Workshop–Bring a camera for this up-close introduction to birds in this catch and release program; 11:30 A.M–“Raptors Wild” See live raptors in this presentation by raptor rescue/rehab group, Talon Trust; 12:45 P.M.–“Owl Puke–Yuck! Or Not?”–Become a scientist as you dissect an owl pellet to discover the secrets inside; 1:30 P.M.–“Native Plants and You”–Learn what you can do to improve your own backyard, attracting beneficial insects to feed birds, presented by Ancient Roots Native Nursery; 2:45 P.M.–“Drawing Audubon-style”–Try your hand at drawing a bird the way John James Audubon did! No art skills required. $5, registration recommended, as spaces are limited. Fun and informative for the whole family! Activities are FREE, except for the art class. Questions?
